She remembers the day they met 10 years ago like it was yesterday. His kind demeanour and ability to talk with anyone drew her in and the rest I suppose you could say is “history”. To her, he’s her greatest encourager, to him she’s indescribable.
It was as if they already knew they were moving to the mountains before they even did. Kathleen and Ryan’s Calabogie Peaks Resort wedding was nothing short of amazing with a woodsy feel and mountain vibe, just like their new home in the Okanagan. With a touch of gold, white and greenery, the colours weren’t only the perfect fit to Kathleen’s personality – elegant yet simple, but they complimented their venue to a tee.
The morning was a flurry of excitement as the girls cried, laughed and watched their very best friend get ready for one of the best days of her life so far. To keep the day as relaxed as possible and with a focus on their guests, Kathleen and Ryan decided to have a first look and see each other before the ceremony. It was such a quiet and genuine moment to capture between the two of them and if you know them both, this sounds about right. There were no nerves, no worries – they were each other’s version of calm.
Truly each other’s best friend, we spent an hour or so capturing their excitement for the moments ahead and then brought in the bridal party for another round of hugs and celebration. Leading right into the ceremony, the music started and of course so did the tears. Getting to know couples on such an intimate level, and especially when they become friends that want to hangout even after the wedding day is done, you cry, or at least I always do. Kathleen and Ryan have become people that I completely relate to on so many levels, and are just a blast to be around. They’re up for anything, including adventures through the Kelowna desert for their engagement session and standing in a swarm of 100 mosquitoes for sunset photos.
With a focus on their guests and having the best time possible, Kathleen and Ryan got the party started at cocktail hour and kept it going all through the night with lots of scotch, wine, cupcakes and hilarious dance moves.
Kathleen and Ryan, I’m speechless and tearing up already trying to think of how to possibly thank you. Being your wedding photographer was absolutely phenomenal. From every experience we’ve had together including the first Starbucks meeting to hopefully getting to see you in July when I’m in the Okanagan, I’ve considered you both close friends. You’re a couple that treats everyone with such kindness and genuine respect and the people you surround yourselves with are nothing but the same. Here’s to a friendship I hope that continues to grow! Thank you to the moon and back.
Feel free to add music for added ambiance
