Alisha and Ricardo knew that no matter what someway, somehow they would have ended up together because the Universe has always has their best interest at heart. Having know each other their entire lives, all it took was one special white hot chocolate for them to both realize this was so much more.
The morning started at their new home with Alisha her best girlfriends getting ready together. They were excited yet calm; as this day was one everyone knew would come eventually, perhaps even before Alisha and Ricardo did. Growing up in the same church, they had endless love and support for the next step ahead.
Traditional with a bit of their own spin, they chose to do a first look but a blindfolded one to keep the first moment he saw her to be when she walked down the aisle. It was all he could do to keep that smile off his face and not hug her just a little tighter. Alisha chose a custom made ball gown with lace sleeves and a floor length veil that on her were sure to wow anyone.
Alisha and Ricardo are the type of people that make friends easily, and not just acquaintances, the kind that stay for life. This was something that’s been easily noticed all through getting to know these two and especially when almost every seat in that church was filled. They compliment each other in the most perfect of ways but one I can’t honestly put my finger on.
Continuing with tradition, they wrote handwritten vows and shared them in front of those they love most at their church just a few minutes from their new home. I assure you there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, myself included. Their vows were honest, real like they could only possibly be from the most romantic movie you had ever watched. Next, we headed out to Tabaret Hall in downtown Ottawa for their portraits together and with their bridal party. For these two, I wanted a backdrop that was epic in a sense that it reminded me of the both of them both together and apart.
At the very place he proposed, they invited their closest friends and family to continue the celebration and join in their reception at the Shaw Centre. Filled with the most beautiful natural light, they laughed and cried as family and friends shared all they love about the both of them and their journey ahead.
Ending the night with their cake cut, a toast to forever, and final twirl in her dress in the golden hour light, they headed off for their honeymoon in the Bahamas.
Alisha and Ricardo, you two leave me at a loss for words. Since the day we met at Quitters, I’ve loved keeping up with your lives, your love and all the adventures you go on together. I remember the night of your engagement session and feeling like you were friends already. Like I said before, you have this way of pulling people in. You have so much heart to give and your wedding was a pure reflection of that not only to each other but to every single person there. To me, your wedding and love story are the greatest examples of the saying ‘everything happens for a reason..’ I’ve experienced in this life so far. All the love in the world you two!
